Since 2006, the National Council on Aging has observed Falls Prevention Awareness during the month of September, home to the first day of…Fall! Many people think falls are a normal part of aging, but the truth is, they’re not. Most falls can be prevented—and we have the power to reduce the risk. Becky Stoner, Physical Therapist from the Grand Marais Wellness Center, will help us discover how even small changes in our personal habits, healthcare routines, and living spaces can make a big difference in keeping us safe. Cook County Public Health Educator Andrea Orest will also share about our county’s Healthy Homes Assessment initiative and other programs that may help address safety issues in and around the home.
