Northland Foundation
Northland Foundation has received funding of $500,000 from the State of Minnesota to support Main Street revitalization projects in Cook County.The Cook County corridor for this grant is defined as the Townships of Lutsen, Schroeder and Tofte; the City of Grand Marais; and the Highway 61 corridor, north through the Grand Portage Reservation, and includes the Gunflint Trail.This program offers leveraged grant opportunities for eligible construction-related projects, with a focus on revitalizing main street corridors. Grants can be for up to 30% of the total project.Leveraged grants and/or loans can be used by eligible recipients for the repair or renovation of real property, building construction, landscaping, demolition, and site preparation. Grant proceeds can also be used for design work, engineering, non-publicly owned infrastructure, and related site amenities.

This is a competitive grant application where projects will score higher for job creation, increase in the tax base, and revitalization of your business corridor.

Eligible project expenses do not include the purchase of real estate, business operations, or business operating expenses, such as inventory, wages, or working capital.
